Foreign Minister and National Human Rights Committee chairman Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani has underlined Bahrain’s status as a leading global model in promoting the values of human conscience and peaceful coexistence among religions, cultures and civilisations.
He attributed this to the humanitarian vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the policies of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
On the occasion of International Day of Conscience, adopted by the United Nations based on an initiative by the kingdom and observed annually on April 5, the minister expressed pride in Bahrain’s pioneering role.
He noted that this role stems from the kingdom’s deep-rooted history and human and civilisational values in promoting peace and tolerance, rejecting extremism and hatred and working towards a sustainable world built on respect, justice, harmony.
Dr Al Zayani commended the kingdom’s initiatives to promote a culture of peace, prevent the outbreak of conflicts, prioritise conscience in conflict resolution through dialogue and negotiation, and host global forums for inter-civilisational and interfaith dialogue.
He also referred to the launch of the King Hamad Award for Coexistence and Tolerance, and to international awards supporting women, youth, education and humanitarian service.
Dr Al Zayani highlighted the Arab League Summit (Bahrain Summit) which adopted royal initiatives to convene an international peace conference, provide healthcare and education for those affected by conflicts, and promote co-operation in the domains of innovation and digital transformation.
Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance board of trustees chairman Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa commended Bahrain’s distinction as a cradle of compassion, tolerance and safety.
Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam and Sura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh also pointed out that the kingdom is as a global beacon of peace, fraternity, and dialogue between civilisations, under the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the support of HRH Prince Salman.
