Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi has congratulated Bahrain Journalists’ Association (BJA) chairman Isa Al Shaiji on the association’s 25th anniversary.
The minister emphasised that this occasion is an opportunity to highlight the influential role played by the BJA in preserving the leading position of the Bahraini Press.
He noted that since its establishment, the BJA has been a key factor in the development of the national Press, with the support of His Majesty King Hamad.
Dr Al Nuaimi highlighted that the establishment of the BJA was an outcome of His Majesty’s vision. He noted that the Press has contributed to supporting the comprehensive development witnessed by the Bahrain under the King’s leadership.
The minister said the BJA stands as a reflection of His Majesty’s commitment to the impact of national journalism in enlightening society, promoting awareness of national issues and upholding the value of truthful and responsible reporting.
Dr Al Nuaimi highlighted that the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has contributed to strengthening the role of the Press in various stages of national action. This has created a welcoming environment for its role in serving the nation and expressing the aspirations of the nation and its citizens.
The minister commended the efforts of the BJA in advancing journalistic work, its efforts to develop Bahraini journalistic cadres, and the attention it pays to its members at all levels.
He also noted the efforts of Mr Al Shaiji and the association’s board of directors in working to achieve its goals.
Dr Al Nuaimi expressed that the BJA, throughout its long history, has demonstrated great success in achieving the goals stipulated in its charter, raising the professional and cultural level of journalists, protecting their rights, defending their interests, and enabling them to carry out their mission.
He underscored the ministry’s commitment to further co-operation with all Bahraini journalists to achieve shared goals, preserve the noble values of journalism, and advance Bahraini media professionals.
