Bahrain has called for collective efforts by the international community to realise a better future for all.
Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam also underscored the kingdom’s commitment to inclusive social development, economic empowerment and the protection of vulnerable groups as he delivered Bahrain’s national address at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The 150th assembly is being held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, under the theme, ‘Parliamentary action for social development and justice’.
Mr Al Musallam outlined the success of Bahrain’s initiatives dedicated to supporting those most in need of social protection and ensuring their active participation in national development.
This, he noted, helps translate aspirations into tangible progress, based on a national framework that guarantees rights and equal opportunities for all.
He noted that Bahraini citizens benefit from access to a wide range of services, including education and healthcare as well as social and legal protection.
This is supported by national programmes that provide financial aid to Bahraini families, in line with the Social Security Law, which serves as a cornerstone for raising living standards and assisting vulnerable groups, Mr Al Musallam said.
The Speaker attributed the success of the nation’s initiatives to the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
