Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani attended a meeting yesterday at the UN headquarters organised by the Permanent Mission of Bahrain to the UN, with the participation of the permanent representatives of Arab countries to support Bahrain’s candidacy for non-permanent membership in the Security Council 2026-2027.
The elections are due to take place at the UN General Assembly’s meeting on June 3, in New York.
Libya’s Permanent Representative to the UN and Chair of the Arab Group Taher Mohammed El Sonni delivered a speech welcoming the Foreign Minister. He affirmed the Arab countries’ support for Bahrain’s candidacy for non-permanent membership in the Security Council, wishing the kingdom success in achieving its priorities within the council.
Dr Al Zayani expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Arab representatives for accepting the invitation to attend the meeting, commending their commitment to multilateral diplomacy and the pursuit of global peace and security.
