Parliament Speaker and head of parliamentary delegation Ahmed Al Musallam met UK Parliament member Fabian Hamilton and his accompanying delegation, on the sidelines of the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Mr Al Musallam commended the depth of relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, which extend over two centuries and are built on longstanding relations and common interests. He noted the active co-operation across all development sectors and the strength of the partnership, supported by the close ties between His Majesty King Hamad and King Charles III.
The Speaker expressed pride in the level of co-operation between the two kingdoms and their peoples, at both official and parliamentary levels, and the continued growth and development of these ties in various key domains that serve common interests.
Al Musallam emphasised the importance of enhancing joint parliamentary co-operation. He noted the shared interest of both Bahrain and the UK in deepening bilateral relations and enhancing co-ordination in international parliamentary forums. He also emphasised the need to build bridges of communication across various sectors to support the shared goals and aspirations of both kingdoms and their peoples.
On his part, Mr Hamilton expressed his appreciation for the strong and historical ties between the UK and Bahrain. He recalled Bahrain’s success in hosting the 146th IPU Assembly, describing the kingdom as a model of coexistence, harmony, and tolerance.
He added that the UK Parliament’s commitment to enhancing ties with both Parliament and the Shura Council and to continuing the exchange of parliamentary and legislative expertise to support further shared achievements.
The meeting was attended by Parliament First Deputy Speaker Abdulnabi Salman, Shura Council members Dr Bassam Albinmohammed, Hala Ramzi Fayez and Maryam Al Dhaen, Parliament secretary general Mohamed Al Sisi Al Buainain and Shura Council secretary general Kareema Al Abbasi.
