Bahrain International Airport (BIA) has been named the ‘World’s Cleanest Airport’ among airports handling up to 25 million passengers annually at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) said yesterday.
BIA also secured the title of ‘Middle East’s Cleanest Airport’ and was recognised as the ‘World’s Best Airport Serving 5-10 million passengers,’ BAC said in a statement.
The awards, presented at the Passengers Terminal Expo in Madrid, reflect BIA’s commitment to passenger experience and maintaining high standards across its operations.
The accolades were accepted by BAC’s vice-president of facility management Eyad Ismaeel, who represented BIA at the ceremony.
In addition to the top honours, BIA achieved third place for the World’s Best Immigration Service, third among the ‘Best Airports in the Middle East’, fourth globally for baggage delivery, and fifth in the ‘World’s Most Family-Friendly Airports’ category.
Gulf Air Group chairman Khalid Hussain Taqi said the wins reflected the company’s commitment to providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for travellers.
Edward Plaisted, chief executive of Skytrax, congratulated Bahrain International Airport for its consistent delivery of high cleanliness standards.
The World Airport Awards are based on customer satisfaction surveys completed by over 100 nationalities between August 2024 and February 2025, evaluating various aspects of the airport experience.
