SUPREME Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa chaired the meeting of the supreme organising committee of the third Asian Youth Games.
The event will be hosted by the kingdom from October 22 to 31, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad.
Shaikh Khalid commended the efforts of government bodies in preparing to host the event, which will be held for the first time in Bahrain.
Shaikh Khalid emphasised the importance of intensifying efforts to complete all requirements in a manner that reflects the kingdom’s reputation for hosting major sporting events.
Shaikh Khalid reviewed the preparations of government entities and the executive committee. The Royal Medical Services, Information Ministry, and Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry gave detailed presentations on their plans and level of preparedness.
The meeting also covered the needs of sports federations, and reviewed plans for reception, transport, accommodation, the athletes’ village, designs, facilities, and registration of participating countries.
Shaikh Khalid stressed the need to implement all plans to meet the highest standards of hosting, in line with the royal patronage and the trust placed in the kingdom by the Olympic Council of Asia. Shaikh Khalid also emphasised the importance of co-ordination among government, private, and civil sectors to ensure the games are organised to the highest level.
