BASKETBALL – Bahrain's Fiba 3x3 World Tour representatives Riffa are in the kingdom conducting a training camp ahead of the start of their 2025 world tour campaign.
The world’s premier street basketball series kicks off in Utsunomiya, Japan, on April 26 and 27. After 13 more events in various cities around the world, the 14th edition of the world tour will come to a close in Bahrain as the kingdom hosts the 2025 Fiba 3x3 World Tour Final this November.
Riffa are conducting their preparations with their squad of Dennis Donkor, Jonas Foerts, Thibaut Vervoort, Vic Van Oosterwyck, and Caspar Augustijnen.
They have been welcomed by the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) and have begun their on-court practices, with the participation of a number of Bahrain’s top local 3x3 players.
With Riffa holding their camp in the kingdom, the BBA aims for Bahraini talents to interact with these world-class competitors, and gain experience with the hopes of one day getting the opportunity to compete at the highest level of street basketball.
The camp also reflects Riffa’s commitment to supporting and developing 3x3 basketball in Bahrain and the region.
The Fiba 3x3 World Tour features a 15-event calendar in 2025. The curtain-closer in Bahrain will be held on November 21 and 22.
This will be the first time ever that Bahrain will be staging the season-ender, which will crown this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour champions. The past two editions in the kingdom were the Manama Masters in 2023 and last year. On both occasions, the competitions were held at a specially built venue at Bahrain Financial Harbour, offering a stunning backdrop to the exciting basketball action, which also included a women’s tournament, a slam dunk contest, and a three-point shootout.
This year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour Final is one of a few major Fiba events to be held in Bahrain this year. Two others are the Fiba Mid-Term Congress on May 16 and 17 and the Class of 2025 enshrinement ceremony to the Fiba Hall of Fame (HOF) on May 17.
The mid-term congress will feature the participation of representatives from Fiba’s 212 member national federations, while the Fiba HOF ceremony will honour basketball superstars including Pau Gasol, Mike Krzyzewski, and Andrew Bogut, among others, for their tremendous contributions to the worldwide game.
