A man has been sentenced to a year in prison for subjecting two men to forced labour and human trafficking, the Public Prosecution said in a statement yesterday.
He was also fined BD5,000 and ordered to pay for the expenses of repatriating the victims whom he forced to work for long hours in conditions that went against the labour law.
The defendant and the victims are reportedly Arabs.
The prosecution began an investigation into the case after receiving a report from the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, after which victims and witnesses were interviewed, and the suspect was arrested.
