The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), in co-operation with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), has launched the ‘Closing Electricity and Water Account’ service for companies and institutions through Bahrain’s national portal, bahrain.bh
EWA customer services director Ahmed Al Jama said that the launch is part of the authority’s strategy to enhance customer services by fully digitising its offerings.
He noted that the authority is working to achieve 100 per cent digital transformation in the upcoming phase.
“The service is specifically tailored for companies and institutions, enabling authorised signatories to submit account closure requests easily through the national portal. This contributes to streamlining procedures and reducing time and effort for customers.”
Mr Al Jama highlighted the instant processing feature of the service, allowing accounts to be closed at the time of submission, thereby improving operational efficiency and enhancing the customer experience.
“The EWA has integrated with the Industry and Commerce Ministry to enable real-time verification of commercial registration data, eliminating the need for customers to submit additional documents. This secure and automated process ensures the validity of business information electronically,” he added.
The initiative forms part of a broader effort by the authority to enhance customer service delivery by simplifying procedures and offering efficient, transparent and seamless digital solutions.
It also reflects EWA’s commitment to keeping pace with technological developments and strengthening digital integration with relevant entities to deliver fast and innovative services.
