The Customs Affairs has arrested an individual who allegedly attempted to smuggle 5.95kg of narcotics, worth around BD90,000, through Bahrain International Airport.
Officers suspected the 24-year-old – identified only as an Asian – upon his arrival at the airport. He was referred to the red lane and illicit drugs were found inside four packages hidden professionally inside the bag. The case was referred to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, which launched a probe that led to the arrest of a second Asian suspect, 23, in Bahrain for his alleged involvement in the incident.
Legal proceedings were initiated and the case referred to the Public Prosecution.
