Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam yesterday participated in the meeting of heads of parliaments supporting Palestine, held in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the meeting in Ankara, the Speaker called on parliaments to use their legislative powers to reinforce support for the two state solution, based on international law and the Arab Peace Initiative. He emphasised the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He called for an immediate ceasefire, lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip, the upholding of Palestinian refugees’ right of return and rejection of any plans to alter Gaza’s demographic structure.
