ONE of the kingdom’s longest running beauty and personality pageants, the May Queen 2025, has been rescheduled to May 23, it was announced yesterday.
The Indian Club, which is hosting the event, said the contest has been postponed as maintenance work was still underway at its premises.
The GDN earlier reported that the contest was set to be held on May 2.
“We have been carrying out maintenance work at the club. Unfortunately, it’s yet to be completed, owing to which we had to reschedule the beauty pageant to May 23,” club general secretary Anil Kumar told the GDN.
The entry for the pageant is open to all ladies aged between 17 and 27 years, residing in Bahrain. Registration is open until May 8.
There is no restriction on nationality. Previous editions of the event have witnessed contestants from a range of countries, including Bahrain, India, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Russia, Philippines, France and Ethiopia.
The pageant will have three competitive rounds: casual wear, ethnic wear and party wear. Contestants who qualify after these three rounds will be subjected to the final round of Q&A.
Titles up for grabs are the much coveted Indian Club May Queen 2025, first runner-up and second runner-up. Winners will also be selected in categories such as Best Smile, Best Hairdo, Best Walk and Audience Choice.
They will walk away with attractive prizes including cash, jewellery, fashion accessories and gift hampers.
The total prize money for the May Queen 2025 will be $3,000.
Running for more than 60 years, the Indian Club May Queen is one of the kingdom’s most glittering events, with past winners going on to carve successful careers, like Bollywood celebrity and Sri Lankan national Jacqueline Fernandez, who grew up in Bahrain and attended Sacred Heart School.
