The deadline for receiving applications for the second edition of Al Dana Drama Award is May 10, the organising committee has announced.
The applications can be submitted through the dedicated website, www.mia.gov.bh, it added, calling on all concerned parties to seize the opportunity that celebrates Gulf drama makers and honours distinguished ones among them.
The award, which is organised by the Information Affairs Ministry under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority president and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, aims to stimulate the Gulf drama movement and encourage artistic production of all kinds.
Participation in the awards is open to production companies, satellite channels and digital platforms that own the rights to works, in addition to institutions in the public and private sectors, provided that the participating works began airing after April 9, 2024, and before May 10, 2025.
The award includes 10 competitive categories, including Best Social Series, Best Comedy Series, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Newcomer, Best Soundtrack, Best Script, Best Director, Best Child Actor and Best Visual Effects.
The awards also include three public voting categories: Best Series, Best Actor, and Best Actress.
The winners will be crowned at a special ceremony held under the patronage of Shaikh Khalid, where the results will be announced after the entries are evaluated by a jury comprising an elite group of critics and drama specialists from across the Arabian Gulf.
Al Dana Drama Award is one of the most prominent media initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of artistic production and appreciating creative talents from the Gulf. It also contributes to highlighting the cultural role of the kingdom in supporting drama as a means of effective artistic and media expression.
The award provides a competitive platform that encourages dramatic innovation and supports the integration of content and professionalism, reflecting the Information Ministry’s aspirations to advance the Gulf drama scene and provide a nurturing environment for creative individuals in this field.
