The trial of a man, who allegedly committed murder and arson in a farm in Tubli, is set to begin on May 18.
According to a statement by the Public Prosecution, the 26-year-old suspect confessed to repeatedly hitting the 41-year-old victim’s head with a hammer, then attempting to burn his corpse to hide the evidence.
The alleged murder occurred on April 9, when authorities received a report of a fire in labour accommodation.
Soon, forensic experts and judicial officers were despatched to the crime scene to examine it and collect samples for analysis.
The medical examiner inspected the body, noting grave injuries to the head.
After intensive investigations into the identity of the suspect, he was tracked down and apprehended, and reportedly admitted to crime in detail during questioning.
The man, who authorities only identify as ‘Asian’, reportedly confessed to carrying out the fatal hammer assault, fully intending to end his victim's life.
The details of the disputes between the two men were not mentioned.
The man was taken to the scene of the crime, where he re-enacted the alleged murder before authorities.
“Based on the indisputable forensic, material and testimonial evidence, the prosecution has directed the case to criminal trial,” read the statement.
