Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) held a ‘Bahraini Press Day’ event to honour local media, presenting trophies to the editors-in-chief and managing editors of the kingdom’s daily newspapers.
During the event, held yesterday at the Wyndham Grand Hotel, the bank also awarded certificates of appreciation to several local journalists, including GDN Media business editor Avinash Saxena, and representatives from new media platforms.

During the event, BisB’s chief executive Fatema AlAlawi said: “The Bahraini Press has always been, and continues to be, a mirror of society, a voice for citizens and a pen that reflects the community’s essence, issues and achievements.
“At BisB, we firmly believe that our partnership with the local press is a fundamental pillar of our banking journey, as you have always been our partners in success throughout our work.”

Mr Szecowka being honoured at the event
GDN Media’s Managing Editor Stanley Szecowka said he was delighted to receive the acknowledgement and added that the GDN Media team – in print, online and across social media – takes its responsibilities to heart and appreciates being described as ‘the trusted voice and the nation’s mirror’.
The wooden trophy has pride of place on his desk.
