The Cabinet has praised His Majesty King Hamad’s message on the World Press Freedom Day, which underscored the vital role of the national Press in supporting the kingdom’s sustainable development.
This came as Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.
The Cabinet also welcomed the King’s recognition of the government’s efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in promoting modern technologies across various sectors, and acknowledged the Information Affairs Ministry’s role in advancing Bahrain’s media infrastructure.
In celebration of Bahrain Press Day, the Cabinet expressed pride in the national Press for its contributions to the kingdom’s comprehensive development.
The Cabinet commended the successful hosting of the Bab Al Bahrain Forum 2025, which was inaugurated on behalf of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister by the Deputy Prime Minister. In this regard, the Cabinet recognised the wide regional and international participation in the forum and commended the Bahrain Chamber for its organisational efforts, which contributed to the event’s success and strengthened international recognition of the kingdom’s future development vision.
The Cabinet expressed its best wishes for success to students at all educational levels as they begin their final exams for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. In this regard, the Cabinet directed that all necessary support be provided to ensure smooth examination procedures and to help students achieve their best results.
The Cabinet reviewed and approved several memorandums, including:
- A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects regarding the additional regulations, requirements, and standards for parking spaces across various land classifications.
- A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance regarding Bahrain’s 2024 quarterly economic report. The report showed a 2.6 per cent annual GDP growth at constant prices, driven by a 3.8pc increase in non-oil activities. The fourth quarter showed a 3.4pc GDP growth at constant prices and a 4.6pc rise in non-oil activities.
- A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial, Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance regarding the International Monetary Fund’s 16th General Review of Quotas.
- A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the draft resolution regulating joint human resources services.
- A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to three proposals submitted by Parliament.
The Cabinet noted the following ministerial reports:
- Outcomes of the 2025 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.
- Outcome of the visit conducted by a Bahrain delegation led by the Finance and National Economy Minister to Italy to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations.
- Outcomes of the two ceremonies held to mark Labour Day.
- Outcomes of the kingdom’s participation in the 2025 Arabian Travel Market.
