A high-level delegation from Bahrain, led by Sustainable Development Minister and Bahrain Economic Development Board chief executive Noor Al Khulaif, and Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, kicked off a two-day strategic visit to Malaysia yesterday.
The visit forms part of the kingdom’s ongoing efforts, through Team Bahrain, to enhance its position as a leading destination for international investment, targeting companies seeking to establish or expand their operations in the region.
Bahrain’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Waleed Al Manea is accompanying the delegation alongside senior officials from both sides.
During the visit, the Bahraini delegation will hold meetings with key Malaysian officials, including Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim; Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz; and Entrepreneur Development and Co-operatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Discussions will also take place with representatives from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
As part of the programme, the delegation will highlight Bahrain’s diverse investment opportunities across priority sectors during a business dinner hosted by the Kuala Lumpur Business Club.
Bahrain and Malaysia commemorated the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties last year. Over the decades, both countries have expanded their co-operation through a series of agreements and memoranda of understanding covering economic, trade, investment, technical, cultural and scientific domains.
This strategic visit, which follows a series of high-level exchanges, underscores Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its long-standing partnership with Malaysia and strengthening mutually beneficial economic co-operation. It aims to further develop bilateral trade and investment relations in support of the kingdom’s sustainable economic development and future employment objectives.
