Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi visited ongoing housing projects developed in partnership with real estate companies under the Government Land Development Rights Programme.
The visit included the Hai Al Naseem project in Salman City, the Al Wadi project in Buhair, and the Hawrat Sanad project in the Southern Governorate.
Ms Al Romaihi reviewed construction progress and emphasised the importance of adhering to project timelines in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad to deliver 50,000 new housing units.
She noted that the programme plays a central role in implementing His Majesty’s directives, having already provided immediate housing services for beneficiaries of the housing finance scheme.
She said the programme had seen strong interest from developers, reflecting the private sector’s role in supporting social housing through direct project development or by offering units compatible with financing options provided by the ministry, including Tas’heel, Tas’heel+, Mazaya, and the newly introduced Mazaya category.
She noted strong demand for the projects, with units in Hai Al Naseem and Al Wadi selling out days shortly after launch. Completion rates have reached 61 per cent in Hai Al Naseem, 31pc in Al Wadi, and 10pc in Hawrat Sanad.
Ms Al Romaihi announced the launch of three new projects in Salman City, raising the total to seven, with further expansions planned in Khalifa City, Isa Town, and Umm Al Hassam. More than 3,000 new units are expected in Khalifa City, supported by agreements with major developers.
She also confirmed the activation of the Private Land Development Rights Programme, allowing housing projects on privately owned land with government facilitation for eligible beneficiaries.
