HIS Majesty King Hamad has received an invitation from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to attend the GCC-US Summit to be hosted by Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.
The invitation was delivered to the King by Saudi Ambassador Naif bin Bandar Al Sudairi at Safriya Palace yesterday.
The King expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the invitation, commending the deep-rooted and historic ties between the two kingdoms and the continued development of co-operation across all sectors.
His Majesty also commended King Salman’s efforts to further develop bilateral relations and praised Saudi Arabia’s role in advancing Gulf co-operation and reinforcing regional peace, security and stability.
The King wished the summit success in promoting regional security, protecting the interests of its countries and peoples, supporting Gulf causes and enhancing strategic partnership with the United States.
The GDN earlier reported that US President Donald Trump is due to meet the heads of Gulf countries while on a visit to Riyadh.
Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE from Tuesday to Friday will be the first foreign trip of his second term – other than a brief visit to Rome for the funeral of Pope Francis.
