THE GCC-US Summit is an important platform to continue advancing the close ties between Gulf states and the United States, His Majesty King Hamad has said.
He emphasised the importance of continuing to develop strategic co-operation to serve shared interests and address regional and global developments that impact peace and security as he arrived in Riyadh yesterday.
His Majesty will lead Bahrain’s delegation at the summit held in Riyadh, at the invitation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, arrived in Riyadh separately to attend the summit.
His Majesty was received by Riyadh Deputy Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, GCC secretary-general Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, the ambassadors of both countries and senior officials.
In a statement issued on arrival, the King expressed appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for hosting the summit and for their continued efforts in promoting regional and international stability.
He also commended Saudi Arabia’s role, under the leadership of King Salman and the support of the Saudi Crown Prince, in maintaining international peace, supporting Arab and Islamic causes and fostering global co-operation to ensure prosperity for all nations.
His Majesty expressed hope that the summit would yield constructive outcomes that enhance collective efforts and reinforce strategic partnerships.
An official mission of honour was formed to accompany His Majesty during the visit, led by the Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain.
