His Majesty King Hamad has expressed Bahrain’s pride in its longstanding partnership with the US to enhance regional and global security.
“Our historic co-operation with the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet is living proof of this partnership and our steadfast commitment to safeguarding maritime navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, ensuring these routes remain free from piracy and terrorism,” the King said as he delivered his address at the GCC-US Summit in Riyadh yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, was in attendance.
“In Bahrain, we believe that strategic integration among our nations is a fundamental pillar for safeguarding our accomplishments and fulfilling our people’s aspirations for a stable and more prosperous future,” His Majesty noted.
He affirmed Bahrain’s determination to continue strengthening economic and commercial ties with the US within the framework of the unique strategic partnership.
His Majesty praised US President Donald Trump’s diplomatic approach aimed at reinforcing peace and resolving conflicts in the Middle East and across the world, citing his decision to lift economic sanctions on Syria.
“It’s an approach that fully aligns with our shared objectives, including the collective call for peace issued by Arab leaders at the Bahrain Summit held last May,” he said.
“We look forward to further collaboration in forging a safe, stable and prosperous region for all its countries. This wise policy offers a unique chance for us to move forward together towards achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, one that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people through the two-state solution, upholds regional security and stability, and contributes to making the region free of weapons of mass destruction and preventing an arms race,” the King said.
He commended the honourable and humanitarian role of Saudi Arabia in proposing and supporting peaceful initiatives and defusing wars, most important of which was related to halting the Russian-Ukrainian war.
His Majesty extended the kingdom’s thanks and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the summit invitation, generous hospitality and warm reception.
He hoped that the success of the ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran will bolster stability and elevate levels of prosperity for the countries of the region.
He said the distinguished gathering provided an opportunity to convene and firmly uphold the spirit of close friendship that has grown in strength and depth through the years between the GCC member states and the US.
“We are equally pleased to welcome President Donald Trump, whose participation in this summit reflects the depth and enduring significance of the strategic partnership between the GCC and the US.”
His Majesty congratulated the US President on his historic electoral victory and the achievements he has made since assuming the presidency.
He wished the summit success, and hoped it will mark the beginning of a new phase of constructive co-operation, sustainable partnership, and mutual understanding towards a region blessed with security and stability and a world characterised by peace, harmony and prosperity.
