His Majesty King Hamad has commended Bahraini riders for elevating the kingdom’s reputation in equestrian competitions across the world.
The royal praise came as the King attended the endurance race yesterday at the grounds of Windsor Great Park in the UK, as part of the annual event sponsored by Bahrain.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was received by his representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman, and Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa; SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa; and Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club High Committee deputy chairman Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
The race was also attended by Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, and several distinguished figures from the UK.
His Majesty witnessed part of the race and met riders from Bahrain and the UAE.
He commended Shaikh Nasser’s continued efforts in advancing equestrian sport in Bahrain, which holds significant international popularity.
He also praised the role of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation in promoting the sport and ensuring its active presence in regional and international competitions.
The King expressed his pride in numerous global achievements of Bahraini riders, noting their advanced results and ability to advance the kingdom’s position in international sporting events.
His Majesty hosted a luncheon in honour of senior guests and invitees.
The King arrived in the UK earlier yesterday to a warm welcome by Lord Claude Moraes, representing King Charles, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the UK Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Bahraini Embassy officials.
