Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet praised His Majesty King Hamad’s address at the Gulf Co-operation Council-United States (GCC-US) Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Cabinet praised Saudi Arabia for successfully hosting the Summit, led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and supported by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The Cabinet emphasised Saudi Arabia’s prominent role in promoting investment, advancing peaceful initiatives and fostering regional stability.
The Cabinet underscored the depth of the GCC-US strategic partnership, led by US President Donald Trump.
This follows the Cabinet’s review of a report by the Foreign Minister on the outcomes of the summit.
The Cabinet reaffirmed the significance of His Majesty’s visit to the UK to attend the Royal Windsor Horse Show, as well as the horse races sponsored by Bahrain. In this context, the Cabinet highlighted the importance of His Majesty’s meeting with King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Head of the Commonwealth.
The Cabinet also noted the attendance of HRH Prince Salman at the Royal Windsor Horse Show alongside King Charles III.
The Cabinet praised the deep-rooted and enduring ties between Bahrain and the UK.
The Cabinet highlighted the efforts of His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Captain of the Royal Endurance Team Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his leadership in advancing equestrian sports in Bahrain, a sport cherished across the kingdom.
Marking the 44th anniversary of the establishment of the GCC, the Cabinet extended its congratulations to the King and to GCC leaders, celebrating the council’s achievements over the past four decades.
The Cabinet extended its congratulations to Syrian Presiden Ahmed Al Sharaa following the announcement by Trump to lift economic sanctions on Syria in response to the diplomatic efforts of Prince Mohammed.
The Cabinet expressed its appreciation for the successful hosting of the “Towards Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Development” forum by the Shura Council. The Cabinet noted that the forum reflected the strong collaboration between the executive and legislative authorities in advancing the kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty and the directives of HRH Prince Salman.
The Cabinet reviewed and approved several memorandums, including:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Interior Minister regarding the population census of Bahrain, indicating that Bahrain’s population reached 1,594,654 by the end of 2024.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to five proposals and four laws submitted by Parliament.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Cabinet Affairs Minister and Education and Training Quality Authority board of directors chairman regarding the approval of the authority’s reports.
The Cabinet reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister regarding the performance of the courts and enforcement statistics of 2023 and 2024.
The Cabinet noted the following ministerial reports:
1. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the 34th Arab Summit and the 5th Economic and Social Development Summit.
2. Outcomes of the Azerbaijan Foreign Minister’s visit to Bahrain.
3. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the 28th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Municipal Affairs.
4. Outcomes of the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister to France.
5. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the 28th meeting of the Information Ministers of GCC countries, and the 20th edition of the Arab Media Forum.
