The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) partnered with the World Bank to host a three-day workshop aimed at boosting knowledge exchange and expertise in labour market and workforce development.
The event drew 55 professionals from various government bodies, including the Prime Minister’s Office, Finance and National Economy Ministry, Labour Ministry, Social Development Ministry, Cabinet Affairs Ministry, Industry and Commerce Ministry, Sustainable Development Ministry, and the Bahrain Economic Development Board, Information and eGovernment Authority, Bahrain Economic Development Board, Social Insurance Organisation, Labour Market Regulatory Authority, and a delegation from the World Bank.
Leaders and decision-makers from across different sectors, representing ‘Team Bahrain,’ participated in sessions focused on the latest trends, opportunities, and challenges within the labour market. The workshop featured training sessions, roundtable discussions, and lectures covering topics such as training and upskilling, labour market policies, and the economic inclusion of women.
Alya Alaali, chief strategy and data analytics officer at Tamkeen, underscored the importance of collaborating with international entities to develop policies and programmes that meet global standards and benefit Bahrain’s economy.
“We appreciate the valuable contributions from representatives of Team Bahrain and the World Bank and experts from various sectors,” Ms Alaali said. “Initiatives like this significantly enhance our understanding of the labour market and the ongoing changes within it, therefore informing decisions related to labour market support. This aligns with Tamkeen’s ongoing commitment to supporting Bahrain’s labour market.”
The World Bank GCC country director Safaa El Kogali reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting Bahrain’s efforts to enhance labour market policies through knowledge sharing and technical collaboration.
