Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa received US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, accompanied by a high-level security delegation.
The delegation was received by Public Security Chief Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan and senior ministry officials.
The minister underscored the importance of the visit in strengthening security co-operation and co-ordination between the two countries.
Gen Shaikh Rashid emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to its civilisational path based on coexistence and the promotion of a culture of peace, led by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad.
He also commended the bilateral relations and strategic partnership between Bahrain and the US.
The minister further noted that for more than a century, Bahrain and the US have stood together in pursuit of peace, stability, and shared prosperity. He emphasised that under the leadership the King and US President Donald Trump, the strategic partnership between the two countries continues to grow, founded on mutual trust and reinforced through comprehensive co-operation across various sectors.
The minister underscored ongoing joint efforts in counterterrorism, border and aviation security, combatting human trafficking, and capacity building to address emerging threats, particularly in cybersecurity.
Gen Shaikh Rashid noted that the current US administration’s priorities, securing borders, strengthening supply chains, and deepening collaboration with key allies, are closely aligned with Bahrain’s national security strategy and its steadfast commitment to regional and international co-operation.
During the meeting, the minister presented a number of initiatives and projects launched by the kingdom to enhance community security, including the alternative sentencing programme, which has become a leading model within the criminal justice system.
The minister also emphasised the importance of existing agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries in security co-operation, noting their role in addressing shared security challenges.
He highlighted the need to further develop mechanisms for exchanging expertise in security fields, including expanding the use of artificial intelligence as a foundation for deepening joint collaboration.
On her part, the US Secretary of underscored the importance of enhancing security co-operation with allies and partners to promote regional and global stability, noting that Bahrain is a key partner and strategic ally of the US in addressing regional and international security challenges.
The meeting also addressed a number of critical security matters aimed at bolstering co-ordination across all areas of security work and tackling present and future challenges.
Discussions included joint initiatives that would further advance shared security interests and enhance bilateral co-operation.
