OIL and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs Dr Mohammed Bin Dainah participated remotely in the 18th meeting of the board of trustees of the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE).
The meeting was chaired by Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen AlFadley, chairman of the board and Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of Dr Khaled Fahmy, executive director of CEDARE and former Egyptian Minister of Environment, along with ministers, representatives from the Arab League, the Islamic Development Bank, the University of Malta, and United Nations organisations.
Dr Bin Dainah underscored Bahrain’s support for regional efforts to advance joint environmental action and achieve the sustainable development goals. He commended CEDARE’s role in supporting joint Arab environmental work, enhancing national capacity-building, and offering strategic solutions to environmental challenges facing the region.
He also highlighted the importance of continuing efforts to develop the centre’s institutional capacities and respond to emerging environmental priorities in Arab countries.
The board was briefed on a number of administrative and financial reports and recommendations, which were discussed and approved to support the centre’s regional performance and activities.
