Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa received Dr Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, vice chairman of the board of trustees of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR).
Gen Shaikh Rashid commended the role of research institutions in producing studies that enhance security approaches and contribute to shaping policing policies capable of addressing security challenges effectively.
Dr Al Suwaidi presented Gen Shaikh Rashid with a copy of his latest publication, National Identity in the United Arab Emirates: Between the Uniqueness of Constants and Values and the Universality of Standards, which offers a serious academic contribution to the discourse on national identity amid the challenges posed by globalisation.
Gen Shaikh Rashid emphasised the importance of establishing foundations to safeguard national values and ethics, particularly in response to challenges related to the use of artificial intelligence applications.
He highlighted the need to intensify research and develop proactive legislation to address emerging technologies.
Gen Shaikh Rashid also commended Dr Al Suwaidi’s intellectual contributions and extensive expertise in political and strategic studies, as well as his publications and research outputs.
He noted the vital role of the ECSSR as a prominent think tank producing specialised studies and high-level academic work.
The meeting also discussed ways to enhance co-operation, co-ordination, and the exchange of expertise between both sides.
