UNITY, determination and collective strength are necessary to turn today’s global challenges into opportunities, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has said.
This will pave the way for stability and sustainable prosperity for all our people, he said when he participated in two major international summits on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad yesterday.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who is also on an official visit to Malaysia, headed Bahrain’s delegation to the second Asean-GCC Summit and the inaugural Asean-GCC-China Summit in Kuala Lumpur.
“Today, we see genuine alignment in our approaches to the future – whether in developing resilient food systems, advancing sustainable tourism or investing in human capital through education and research,” HRH Prince Salman told the Asean-GCC Summit, which he described as a promising new chapter in relations between the two regions.
“These are not simply areas of co-operation; they are expressions of a shared vision – one that prioritises adaptability, innovation and long-term stability.
“What inspires real confidence is not just the breadth of our ambitions, but the steady and tangible progress we continue to achieve,” HRH Prince Salman said.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister welcomed Monday’s signing of a joint statement launching negotiations for a Malaysia-GCC Free Trade Agreement.
Addressing the Asean-GCC-China Summit, HRH Prince Salman said together the three comprise over a quarter of the world’s population and around 20 per cent of global GDP. This scale brings with it extraordinary potential – and an equally profound responsibility.
“In rising to meet that responsibility, our regions are already taking ambitious steps,” he said.
“We commend the efforts of China and Asean in scaling up renewable energy, building green infrastructure, and progressing towards carbon neutrality – goals that resonate deeply with the Gulf’s own priorities, including Bahrain’s national commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2060.”
