Interior Minister and Civil Defence Council chairman General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday inaugurated the new Civil Defence Centre in Riffa.
He praised His Majesty King Hamad’s support and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the ministry’s development and modernisation efforts to enhance public safety.
Gen Shaikh Rashid commended the Civil Defence’s role in protecting lives and property and fostering public safety, highlighting the professionalism, preparedness, and field expertise of the Interior Ministry’s personnel, who consistently demonstrate dedication and bravery in responding to various incidents.
The minister also emphasised the importance of adhering to Civil Defence standards and providing centres with the necessary equipment and manpower to efficiently and accurately carry out duties and ensure rapid response.
Gen Shaikh Rashid underlined the importance of social awareness programmes in boosting public safety, stressing the significance of using modern technologies to build a secure society based on community partnership.
He pointed out the launch of the National Civil Protection Platform in November 2023 as a national project aimed at enhancing public safety and reducing disaster risks.
The Interior Minister inspected the facilities of the new Civil Defence Centre and underscored the importance of continued dedication, commitment, and prompt response to incidents to ensure the safety and security of all citizens and residents.
