Isa Bin Salman Education Charitable Trust board of trustees chairman and Labour Fund (Tamkeen) board of directors chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa has emphasised the importance of supplying the labour market with qualified national competencies.
Chairing Tamkeen’s second quarterly board meeting, he stressed the need to create opportunities that enhance the national workforce’s skills and abilities. The aim, he said, is to help them excel and innovate across various fields, in support of the goals of the comprehensive development march led by His Majesty King Hamad with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Isa highlighted the importance of aligning plans and initiatives aimed at positioning national competencies as the first and optimal choice in the labour market. He stressed the need to groom them to fill future jobs, especially in sectors that rely on technical skills and artificial intelligence applications.
The meeting reviewed the fund’s key achievements during the first half of 2025, strategic priorities, and updates on the three main initiatives: supporting new entrants to the labour market, supporting career development, and supporting enterprises.
Shaikh Isa also directed the implementation of several initiatives and programmes to support startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in adopting modern technologies to develop their businesses. “This will contribute to enhancing an environment for innovation and entrepreneurship,” he said.
Tamkeen chief executive Maha Mofeez presented an overview of the key achievements brought about during the first half of 2025. She said support was provided for 7,700 Bahrainis through programmes that facilitate their integration into the labour market. She also added that more than 9,200 Bahrainis benefited from programmes aimed at upskilling them for their career development.
Support was also extended to more than 3,600 enterprises from various sectors as part of programmes focused on growth, digital transformation, and productivity, she noted.
