A Bahrain-based student has won an international honour and grant after creating a website on how to safely get rid of e-waste.
Halah Noor was recently named a Top Honour Award Recipient in National Geographic Society’s 2025 Slingshot Challenge.
The global programme, which honours youth taking bold steps to protect the planet, recognised only 15 projects out of 2,700 submissions from 96 countries.
Now, she is trying to win the People’s Choice Award, the voting for which closes today.
“My project focuses on spreading information on electronic waste and encouraging people to start school campaigns around the world to help solve this issue,” Ms Noor told the GDN.
“I’m incredibly honoured to be one of the recipients and to have received a $10,000 grant in support of my work,” the Ibn Khuldoon National School student added.
