Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) held a celebration yesterday evening, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, marking its silver jubilee.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials, prominent media and national figures, as well as a host of journalists and members of the association.
BJA founding member and first president Nabeel Al Hamer, who is His Majesty King Hamad’s adviser for media affairs, was honoured during the event.
The Information Ministry was also honoured for its ongoing support to the association, with the award presented to Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi.
The Crown Prince’s Court adviser for media affairs Isa Al Hammadi, a long-standing member and supporter of the association, was also honoured.
The founding members of the association were also recognised for being the foundational pillars in its establishment. They are Anwar Abdulrahman, Dr Hilal Al Shaiji, Ali Sayar, Ahmed Salman Kamal, Ibrahim Bashmi, Isa Al Shaiji, Hamad Al Menai, Ali Saleh, Khalid Al Zayani, Saeed Mohammed, Abdullah Al Ayoubi, Ezzedine Al Moayyed, Abdullah Salman, Ali Al Dhawadi, Salman Al Ajmi, Jalil Omar, Khalil Yousif, Ahmed Al Bosta, Sawsan Al Shaer, Tefla Al Khalifa, Mansoor Radhi, Barween Nasrallah, and Ismat Al Mousawi.
On this occasion, BJA President Isa Al Shaiji affirmed that Bahrain, in the prosperous era of His Majesty, and inspired by the ambitious vision of HRH Prince Salman, has established a solid model of institutional governance and democratic approach.
This has provided a legislative framework and an atmosphere of openness that has enabled the national press to fulfil its role with full freedom, responsibility, and high professionalism.
