BAHRAIN’S national Press is a key partner in the kingdom’s development, it was declared yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, highlighted the media’s role in supporting and promoting Bahrain’s achievements across various sectors in line with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad.
He made the comments as he attended the ninth edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism ceremony, held under his patronage at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
HRH Prince Salman also praised the prominent role played by the kingdom’s journalists in reporting about national efforts, building community awareness and conveying messages that serve national goals as part of Bahrain’s comprehensive development.
He congratulated the award recipients, wishing them continued success and excellence, and encouraged them to build on their efforts to further contribute to the kingdom’s development and prosperity.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who presented the awards, reiterated the vital role of the media in advancing development priorities, emphasising that supporting the Bahraini media sector and ensuring they have the tools to perform their jobs with efficiency and professionalism remains a firm priority.
He commended the dedication, responsibility and integrity demonstrated by the kingdom’s media professionals through their impactful reporting and voicing the aspirations of citizens.
He also highlighted the critical role of the national Press through its investigative and oversight functions in supporting the kingdom’s development efforts.
He affirmed the ongoing commitment to strengthening the role of Bahrain’s national media in serving the nation and its citizens, reinforcing the foundations of the kingdom, and shaping a brighter future.
Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi expressed his gratitude for the King’s support for the national Press, which reflected a steadfast belief in the media as an essential partner in Bahrain’s development.
Bahrain Journalists’ Association (BJA) chairman and Al Ayam newspaper editor-in-chief Isa Al Shaiji expressed his gratitude for the leadership’s continuous support, and the ability to freely reflect what’s going around in a sensible and responsible manner.
“Bahrain is celebrating the BJA’s silver jubilee and we wouldn’t have reached here, if it wasn’t for the leadership’s belief in what we give, present and represent,” he said.
The winners expressed their sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for his steadfast support to the media sector.
Ministers, senior officials, journalists, media professionals and dignitaries attended the ceremony.
