Members from the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) conducted an inspection visit to the King Fahad Causeway Security Directorate.
The visit by the Detention and Facilities Visitation Committee aimed to assess the rights of detainees guaranteed by local legislations.
The delegation was also briefed by officials on rights and duties of the Interior Ministry’s personnel.
NIHR members are briefed on services provided at the facility
The members visited detention rooms and facilities and assessed services provided to ensure basic guarantees are available to pre-trial detainees, including healthcare.
The visit is part of a series of routine inspections conducted by the NIHR to monitor the human rights situation in places of detention, in line with international best practices.
