Two men have been sentenced to six months in prison after they were found guilty of engaging in acts deemed indecent and contrary to public morals.
They were arrested and their mobiles confiscated after a video of their antics went viral on social media.
The defendants, identified only as Asian by authorities, will also be permanently deported after they complete their sentence, according to a statement by the head of cyber crime prosecution yesterday (June 3).
The General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security said the men were detained a few days ago for violating Bahraini societal values and promoting lewdness.
During Public Prosecution interrogation, both the defendants admitted to the charges against them.
They were referred for trial on an urgent basis with the Public Prosecution seeking the maximum possible sentence.
