The driver of a vehicle who was involved in a collision that resulted in the death of a Bahraini couple was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, the Public Prosecution said yesterday.
He also exceeded the legal speed limit.
According to a report by the General Directorate of Traffic, the man lost control of his vehicle in Saar on Friday and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the victims’ car.
The suspect has been interrogated, confronted with evidence and put in provisional detention in preparation for trial at a criminal court.
Ahmed Al Orrayedh, wife Fatema Al Qaidoom and their three children were headed to their home in Markh in the early hours when the accident happened.
The children sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment in hospital.
