Bahrain’s election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2026-2027 term has been widely welcomed, receiving global acclaim.
Many Arab countries and regional organisations extended their congratulations to the kingdom on this achievement, which reflects the international community’s confidence in Bahrain’s ability to contribute actively to reinforcing regional and global security, stability and peace.
His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received cables of congratulations from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty and Supreme Council for Women president, on the UN milestone.
The leaders continued to receive more congratulatory cables from ministers, senior officials and officers as well as dignitaries.
The Saudi foreign ministry expressed its sincere congratulations to Bahrain, describing the accomplishment as an affirmation of the international community’s trust in Bahrain’s effective contribution to enhancing international peace and security.
Qatar asserted that Bahrain’s success in winning the Security Council seat reflected the international community’s confidence in its ability to advance regional and global peace and stability, in accordance with the principles and goals of the UN Charter and the provisions of international law.
Egypt expressed full confidence that under the wise leadership and clear vision of His Majesty, Bahrain will play an active and constructive role in the Security Council to support international peace and security. It also affirmed that Bahrain will be a genuine Arab voice defending the causes and shared interests of the Arab nation.
Jordanian foreign ministry spokesperson Ambassador Dr Sufyan Al Qudah affirmed that this well-deserved position for Bahrain reflects its esteemed status both regionally and internationally.
He added that the accomplishment also mirrors the kingdom’s distinctive diplomacy and its valued efforts in supporting regional and international peace and security, as well as humanitarian and development programmes around the world.
The Syrian foreign ministry also affirmed Syria’s confidence in Bahrain’s ability to make a positive contribution to international peace and security and to honourably represent the Arab community, wishing Bahrain success in carrying out its responsibilities.
