His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, last night congratulated Ali Daylami for becoming the first Bahraini to win a Tony award, one of the most prestigious prizes in theatre.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Bahraini producer, Ali Daylami, on his historic and inspiring achievement of winning the Best Musical award at the 78th Annual Tony Awards.
“As the first Bahraini to be nominated for – and win – a Tony Award, this remarkable milestone is a proud moment for #Bahrain and a testament to #TeamBahrain’s growing contribution to theatre and the arts on the international stage,” he wrote in a post on his account (@bahraincpnews).
Mr Daylami, a Bahraini producer based in New York City, was nominated for a Tony Award for his work on the Broadway musical Maybe Happy Ending.
The musical collected six Tony Awards – the most of any show – including best new musical.
