On the occasion of the 127th anniversary of the birth of the Filipino nation, Philippines Ambassador Anne Jalando-on Louis has the following message:
“The Philippines celebrates the 127th Anniversary of the Proclamation of its Independence on June 12.
“The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Kalayaan (Independence), Kinabukasan (Future), Kasaysayan (History)’, which reminds us of how the freedom valiantly fought for by Filipinos who came before us has shaped our nation’s history and continues to shape its future.
“All Filipinos, including those living abroad, have a role to play in the task of building a prosperous and peaceful Philippines that ensures an equitable future for every Filipino.
“At this juncture in its history, the Philippines stands proudly alongside other nations in the international community.
“Our international engagements and partnerships are deeply valued, including the Philippines’ longstanding and excellent bilateral ties with the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“Since the establishment of our diplomatic relations in 1978, the Philippines and Bahrain have been partners in advancing mutual interests through bilateral co-operation across various fields including trade and investments, culture and the arts, skills training, people-to-people exchanges, migration and employment, among others.
“We look forward to further growth and development of our bilateral co-operation in the years ahead.
“I take this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the government and people of Bahrain for their support and contributions that further enhance our bilateral ties.
“To my kabayans in the kingdom, let us look back to 127 years ago and take pride in our long and rich history as a sovereign nation.
“Let us champion and continue to uphold democratic ideals and principles, universal human rights, justice, the rule of law and the values of freedom and sovereignty.
“To all of you, Maligayang Araw ng Kasarinlan! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang Pilipino!”
