A FIELD inspection campaign targeting chemical storage sites in industrial facilities has been intensified by the Civil Defence.
The comprehensive campaign aims to enhance occupational safety measures and increase risk prevention in such facilities.
Civil Defence director-general Brigadier Ali Al Kubaisi emphasised that this campaign is part of ongoing efforts to promote a culture of prevention and safety in the workplace and to reduce incidents related to the storage and use of chemicals.
“It falls under an integrated oversight plan aimed at ensuring the highest levels of safety across various industrial sectors and fostering a strong culture of safety and prevention,” he added.
“The purpose of these campaigns is to ensure that facilities comply with approved standards for hazardous materials storage, including the presence of proper safety systems such as ventilation, alarm systems and emergency response plans, in accordance with both national and international regulations.
“The inspection teams operate in the field to verify that all safety requirements are met.
“They also work to educate on-site employees about the importance of adhering to safety procedures and proper technical practices, as well as how to handle hazardous chemicals correctly in order to raise awareness and enhance the safety of individuals, facilities and the surrounding environment.”
