A seven-year-old Bahraini boy died early this morning after failing to recover from serious injuries sustained in an horrific car accident that killed his parents.
Abdulaziz’s nine-year-old brother Yousif is still under observation in a critical condition and 12-year-old sister, Aya, has been discharged from hospital.
Their parents Ahmed Al Orrayedh and Fatema Al Qaidoom were travelling home to Markh in the early hours of May 30 when their car was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
The accident occurred on a side road, heading from the direction of Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway towards Saar.
The 40-year-old father and 36-year-old mother were taken by the National Ambulance to hospital, where they died from the injuries suffered.
The other motorist ‘blatant disregard’ for road rules.
The driver of a vehicle who was involved in the collision was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, the Public Prosecution said.
He also exceeded the legal speed limit.
According to a report by the General Directorate of Traffic, the man lost control of his vehicle in Saar on Friday and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the victims’ car.
The suspect has been interrogated, confronted with evidence and put in provisional detention in preparation for trial at a criminal court.
