BAHRAINI student Mohammed Jassim Ibrahim from Ahlia School, winner of Bahrain’s national qualifiers in the ninth edition of the Arab Reading Challenge, has set his sights on competing strongly for the title in the final stage of the competition.
The grand finale, which brings together champions from across the Arab world, is scheduled to take place soon in Dubai.
Expressing his pride at clinching first place in Bahrain, Mohammed highlighted that he emerged victorious among more than 137,000 students from both public and private schools across the kingdom.
He described the competition as an exceptional global reading initiative organised under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
Reflecting on the moment his victory was announced, Mohammed said: “It was an unforgettable moment, filled with immense joy and deep gratitude to God Almighty for this success.
“I felt that all those long hours of reading, summarising, and revising had finally paid off. The happiness wasn’t mine alone, it was shared by everyone who supported me along the way, and their prayers were my greatest strength.”
Mohammed attributed his achievement to a lifelong passion for reading, coupled with a well-structured plan to meet the competition’s requirements.
His preparation included dedicating a fixed time each day to reading and summarising books across various genres, including Arabic and world literature, history, science, biographies and personal development.
Regular discussions with his teachers, school challenge co-ordinators, and family members helped deepen his understanding and broaden his perspectives.
He also praised his school’s efforts in nurturing his skills and expressed gratitude to the Education Ministry for its encouragement of students to participate in this prestigious event.
He commended the ministry for integrating private schools into student activities, workshops, and events alongside their public counterparts.
Special thanks, he added, go to his parents for their unwavering support.
With determination and a love of reading driving him forward, Mohammed has now announced that he is preparing to represent Bahrain on the regional stage, aspiring to claim the coveted Arab Reading Challenge title.
