BAHRAIN’S alert warriors have been honoured at a special commemoration to mark International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa thanked the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, as well as all relevant security authorities and co-ordinating ministries, institutions and individuals for their ongoing efforts to fulfil their security responsibilities in protecting society from narcotics.
He was speaking during a meeting hosted by the ministry to mark International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at the Officers’ Club in Gudaibiya and attended by ministers, governors and senior officials.
The day was observed globally on June 26 and this year’s campaign, “Break the cycle. #StopOrganisedCrime”, highlighted the need for co-ordinated long-term action to break the cycle of organised crime and drug trafficking – by addressing root causes, investing in prevention and building stronger health, education and social systems.
