FREE shuttle buses on six main routes, with special services for people with disabilities, have been launched to and from the processions area in Manama.
Jaffari Waqf (Endowments) Directorate board chairman Yousif Al Saleh officially launched the transportation service in the presence of board vice-chairman Abduljalil Al Tareef and the contracted transport company Al Sadiq’s general manager Majid Taher.
Mr Al Saleh expressed his deep appreciation for the leadership’s directives, the co-operation of the Interior Ministry and the continuous support from of the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry.
He also highlighted the efforts of Public Security Chief Major General Tariq Al Hassan and General Director of Traffic Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa.
He also praised Capital Governor Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and the Capital Governorate Police Directorate for their co-ordination and logistical support to ensure the project’s success.
“This is a project we are proud of and have seen it evolve and improve year after year,” said Mr Al Saleh.
“It is an integral part of the directorate’s public service mission during this important time.”
The buses will operate on six main routes to and from Manama. They will run daily from 6pm to 3am until Sunday.
The service is co-ordinated with official government agencies to ensure safety and efficiency.
“This year, we are launching three key enhancements,” Mr Al Saleh revealed.
“First, on a trial basis, we began running some routes as early as June 30 to assess demand and improve planning.
“Second, we have designated a special bus for people with disabilities, a community-focused initiative aimed at inclusivity.
“Third, a local organisation has generously volunteered two buses to support the project, showing true community partnership in action.
“Additionally, the initiative includes the deployment of golf carts along the central route in Manama to transport the elderly, the ill, people with disabilities and young children.”
Mr Al Saleh said the project aims not only to serve the needs of participants but also to reduce traffic congestion, promote the use of public transport and align with sustainable environmental and safety goals.
The buses are available at: Jidhafs-Daih/Jidhafs Intersection; Billad Al Qadeem; Burhama (near Siam Garage); Salmaniya (near Al Jawhara Al Ibrahim Centre and Al Hayat Plaza); Ghufool (near Imam Al Sadiq Mosque); main bus terminal in Manama (near Abu Bakr Al Siddeeq Primary Intermediate Boys School and Isa Al Kabeer Avenue).
A hotline (80008898) has also been launched for public inquiries, provide feedback and find real-time updates related to the transport.
