A BAHRAINI official has emphasised that the National Health Survey is a fundamental tool for monitoring the health status in the kingdom.
It provides an accurate database that supports the development of health services and policies, Health Ministry assistant under-secretary for public health Dr Samya Bahram said yesterday.
She expressed her gratitude to the World Health Organisation (WHO) for its valuable technical support during a training workshop on ‘Data Analysis Methods’.
The workshop was organised by the National Health Survey Committee, comprising the ministry and the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) in collaboration with the WHO.
iGA’s Statistics and Population Registry deputy chief executive Duaa Sultan Mohammed highlighted the importance of such workshops in developing national staff capabilities and enhancing the efficiency of implementing and analysing health survey results.
The workshop was led by WHO expert Dr Iman Abdulkareem and focused on strengthening the national teams’ capacity to analyse data from the 2024 National Health Survey.
The training was based on the latest globally recognised methodologies and approaches, reviewed survey implementation procedures to align with WHO standards, and included a presentation of preliminary statistical results. It also covered discussions on upcoming analysis steps and future phases of the project.
The third National Health Survey, launched in October 2024, targets more than 4,000 households across the kingdom’s governorates as part of ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive health database supporting Bahrain’s healthcare development plans and initiatives.
