FIFTY illegal fishing traps (gargoor) have been confiscated by Coastguard patrols in the sea south of Fasht Al Adham as part of ongoing efforts to protect the marine environment and maintain maritime security, the Interior Ministry said yesterday.
Necessary legal measures have been taken in response to the incident, added a statement.
“The Coastguard Command affirms that it will continue its monitoring and surveillance operations to combat such violations,” it said.
“It also affirms its commitment to protecting marine resources, ensuring compliance with the laws and regulations in force in the kingdom, and reflecting the role it plays in preserving environmental security and promoting marine sustainability.”
