His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasised that empowering and equipping young people forms the cornerstone of the SCYS’s vision.
This comes in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad, which aim to provide all forms of support and care for the youth, recognising them as the foundation of the future and a pillar of development.
Shaikh Nasser noted that the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has placed youth empowerment and skills development at the heart of its programme of action, thereby placing young people at the centre of national policies and providing them with an environment conducive to innovation and creativity.
On the occasion of the upcoming launch of the 14 edition of Youth City 2030 on Monday, he highlighted that Youth City 2030 is more than just a training programme; it is a supportive platform that helps Bahraini youth achieve their ambitions and gain valuable skills and experience.
Shaikh Nasser added that over the past 13 editions, Youth City 2030 has achieved great success and made a significant impact by helping to develop a creative and responsible generation. It has produced talented young people who have contributed to the labour market with innovative projects and ideas.
He noted that the Youth Affairs Ministry has been directed to introduce high-quality programmes, professionally designed to meet the aspirations and needs of Bahraini youth across various interests, to provide a comprehensive developmental experience focused on capacity-building, skills enhancement and the refinement of national competencies, thereby ensuring a lasting positive impact.
He further emphasised that Youth City 2030 represents a unique national model of institutional integration, embodying the strategic co-operation between the Youth Affairs Ministry and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). He highlighted that by working together, the Youth Affairs Ministry and Tamkeen have turned young people’s potential into real achievements and national success stories that make Bahrain proud.
Shaikh Nasser encouraged young people to take part in the next Youth City 2030, saying it was a great opportunity for self-discovery and shaping the future, and that their participation was key to the programme’s success.
