Additional charges will be applied in cases of delayed payment of insurance contributions for GCC nationals working in Bahrain, the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) has announced.
The charges apply to delays in the payment of insurance contributions by employers and aim to ensure that Gulf citizens employed in the kingdom receive their full insurance entitlements.
It noted that a five per cent annual penalty will be applied to overdue contributions. “A grace period of 15 days is granted, starting from the month following the one in which the contributions are due.” This follows the adoption of GCC unified insurance system.
