AN agreement has been signed to supply Gulf Air with 18 new Boeing B787 aircraft and 36 aircraft engines from General Electric Aerospace.
Finance and National Economy Minister and Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) board chairman Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick witnessed the signing during their meeting yesterday.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the United States.
Shaikh Salman highlighted that the deep-rooted Bahrain-US relationship, spanning more than 130 years, is founded on long-standing co-operation and a strategic partnership that continues to evolve across multiple sectors.
The minister emphasised the importance of further advancing bilateral trade and investment opportunities, in line with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Salman noted that the total value of investment deals signed between both countries during the visit amounts to approximately $17 billion. These include agreements across a range of diverse sectors, which are expected to contribute to economic growth and deeper bilateral co-operation.
He emphasised that the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Bahrain and the United States, and the US Trade Zone in Bahrain, have contributed to bolstering economic collaboration and creating promising opportunities.
Shaikh Salman and the Secretary of Commerce also witnessed the signing of an agreement to supply Gulf Air with 18 new Boeing B787 aircraft and 36 aircraft engines from General Electric Aerospace.
The agreement was signed by Gulf Air Group chairman Khalid Taqi and Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Stephanie Pope.
Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the US Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa and Mumtalakat chief executive Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa were present.
